Instructional Technology

The department of instructional technology encompasses both the Director of Instructional Technology, Carl Hooker, and his team of Educational Technologists.  The "Ed Techs" are located on individual campuses to support and train teachers on the best practices for integrating technology into curriculum, instruction and assessment.

Carl and his team have spearheaded the Eanes "LEAP" initiative which focuses on bringing personalized learning into the hands of students via 1:1 iPads.  While still in the early stages, the results have been extremely positive.  That said, the group is constantly looking for ways to improve current technology usage but also researching cutting edge practices in educational technology.

Carl Hooker has spent 15 years in education with a mix of teaching and technical positions in both Austin ISD and Eanes ISD.  In addition to being Director, he is also the founder of "iPadpalooza" - a cultural event showcasing the use of iPads in education.  This past June over 500 people attended the inaugural event with representatives from over 71 districts.  On June 18 & 19, 2013, the event will be expanded over two days and the enrollment increased so that more districts can come learn and share modern educational strategies.
