Welcome back and welcome 2017! While our staff returned today, classes resume tomorrow for students and the Spring semester officially begins. I hope that the Winter Break was joyful and restful for all.
We have a busy Spring to look forward to, which includes planning next year's budget, discussions around salaries and benefits, the Westlake Choir's performance of Mary Poppins, Hyline's Zenith and one of my favorite events, Kindergarten Round-Up. These are just a few examples of what will be here before you know it.
As I mentioned in my letter before the break, we had a tremendously successful Fall semester, complete with state and national recognitions in several areas. This may seem commonplace to some, but it should not be overlooked; we should be proud of our many accomplishments. One of the most recent accolades occurred this morning when the Westlake Band marched in the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena!
Speaking of accomplishments, those who attended a State of the District presentation in the Fall were privy to our new video that highlights the incredible aspects of our District and showcases some of our points of pride. To kick off the Spring semester and 2017, I share with you the official debut of our District video. Our goals in making this video were to provide a glimpse into this wonderful community and instill pride in what we know is a special place to learn, work and play.
